Mason Jars: history & inspiration

In our country we had the culture of preserving food in jars: tomatoes, cod, olives, jam and all kinds of things in vinegar. 

Some days ago I've discovered about the biggest American jar company: Ball. Ball Corporation was founded in 1880 with the name of Ball Bothers Glass Manufacturing Company in Broomfield, Colorado. Its expantion was related to the aviation industry evolution and with the creations of sprays and drinking cans. The company exited the home canning business in 1993, but nowadays is the largest producer of recyclable beverage cans.

Al nostre país també hem tingut -i tenim- la cultura de fer conserves en pots de vidre: tomàquets, bacallà, olives, melmelada i tota mena de coses rares amb vinagre.
Fa uns quants dies vaig fixar-me en la marca americana per excelència d'aquestes terrines: Ball. Ball Corporation va ser fundada l'any 1880 amb el nom de Ball Brothers Glass Manufacturing Company a Broomfield, Colorado. La seva expansió va anar lligada amb l'evolució de les industries com l'aviació o amb la creació dels aerosols i les llaunes de begudes. La companyia va sortir del mercat de conserves casolanes l'any 1993, però avui en dia és l'empresa més gran del món d'envasos reciclables.

DIY: New frames

Pinterest has opened a little more my tiny eyes and thanks to this social network I'm the inspiration itself! In a previous post I've already put some pictures of home decoration that wasn't in Ikea's catalogue ;)

Today I'll bring a different way of using frames: leave behind those pictures of 5 years ago which you thought were artistic, lovely and natural, but they turned to be the material test of looks made in mama, or robotic postures that showed you teeth and spots!

My option: old T-shirt + frame!

Some months ago I've realized that my old Superman T-shirt demanded an intervention, and I - a Smallville and Superman's fan- couldn't leave Clark abandoned like a piece of blue Kriptonite.

I've also made one version with a clothing label from Pepe Jeans collection by (ghost of) Andy Warhol.

As you see you only have to be imaginative and recycle all that you think you'll never use again: keys, pencils, t-shirts, fabric...

Pinterest m'ha obert una mica més els ulls i gracies a aquesta xarxa social puc inspirarme moltissim! En un post anterior ja vaig posar algunes imatges de decoració per a casa nostra que es desmarcaven del catàleg d'Ikea ;)

Avui us porto una manera diferent d'utilitzar marcs de fotos: deixeu enrere aquelles fotos que fa 5 anys creieu que eren artístiques, maques i naturals i han resultat ser la prova material de looks made in mama, o poses robotiques que ensenyaven les dents i els grans!

La meva opció: samarreta vella + marc!

Fa uns quants mesos que aquesta samarreta reclama una intervenció, i jo - una fan de Smallville i superman - no podia permetre'm deixa en Clark abandonat com si es tractés de criptonita blava. 

· Material: samarreta, marc de fotos, tisores.

· Passos: 1) Posa el marc sobre la samarreta per decidir per on vols tallar. 2) Retalla a una distància molt prudencial. 3) Munta el marc. 4) Retalla el teixit sobrant. 5) Col·loca, farda i Voilà!

També n'he fet una versió amb una etiqueta d'una peca de roba de Pepe Jeans by Andy Warhol.
Com veieu, només heu de fer volar la imaginació i reciclar allò que penseu que no en fareu cap ús: claus, samarretes, llapis, trossos de tela...
